Reading Mark with Marc: This week Chapter 5

This weeks reading in Mark is from chapter 5.
Mark 5, Bible Gateway

Questions to consider as you're reading this week:

Why might Jesus have asked the demon-possessed man to tell his people about his healing but told the parents of the healed girl to keep the miracle a secret?

In all three miracles in this story, Jesus is dealing with things that would have been considered ceremonially unclean (demon-possessed man, pigs, hemorrhaging woman, dead girl) according to Jewish law. What significance does this add to Jesus’ miracles? What significance beyond physical healing would this have had for those healed? What might this do to Jesus’ reputation among his own people?
